Becoming a parent is probably one of the most overwhelming, exciting and expensive times of a parent’s life.

Between baby cribs, diapers and formula, the time before and after the birth of a baby can become a constant spending spree as there seems to be no end to the amount of products a baby needs in the first year of their life.  Many of us spend too much on buying items that sound essential but the reality is that the new baby is not likely to require most of the fad products on the market.

Parents can struggle after the birth of a new baby for various reasons.  Nobody ever seems to be prepared enough for a child, there is always something that you remember you should have done sooner but as long as the child knows love and care, everything else has a way of working out.  Mothers can feel different after their child is born, almost as if they have lost a part of themselves but even though they may lament at the sight of their excess pregnancy weight and stretch marks caused by their baby, they still know they have gained something truly special.

Preparing for a New Baby

Pregnancy is a time of preparation and one in which care is taken to fully provide for the new member of the family baby clothing, baths, products and even a special nursery can be some of the essentials that parents to be purchase beforehand.  Sometimes people feel it is unlucky to buy too much before the baby is born but it is too hard to resist the temptation of buying such adorable items.  There are a wondrous amount of products designed for a new baby and it can get a bit overwhelming as it can feel like you will never have everything you need but a bit of perspective will show that as long as the bare essentials are available, there is no need for worry.

When a pregnant woman gets nearer to her due date, she may sometimes feel bored or even a bit down partly because she cannot do as many things as before and partly because she is tired of waiting for her new arrival. This is the perfect time for her family and friends to throw her a baby shower to celebrate the new member of the family and also as a way for everyone to get together in support of the mother to be.

It is a special and personal occasion that is marked by friends and family combined giving presents to the mother; showing her lots of attention and hopefully a great time.

Cruises: Making Sense of the Cruise Options

Meridian was Celebrity Cruises' first ship.

Celebrity Cruises' first ship

Where to Go

The short answer is anywhere.  Most people think of the Caribbean when they think of cruises, but there are so many more options to choose from.  There are great trips that sail around Alaska.  There are other trips that sail in the Mediterranean.  Still more go to South America, but just because there are a lot of options doesn’t mean they’re all right for you and your family.

Your Cruise Options

The best way to narrow down your options is to decide what types of things you want to do while the ship is in port.  Most boats will be pretty similar while you’re on the boat but will change drastically when you get off.  If you want a lot of outdoor adventures while you’re in port, look at the Alaskan cruises.  There will likely be lots of things you wouldn’t be able to experience anywhere else.  If history is more your thing, look at the Mediterranean cruises.  They usually make stops in Italy, Spain, and France.

Try to tailor your current interests towards making your cruise as enjoyable as possible.

Important Accessories for your Cigar

There are only a couple of things that are so sensual like a good cigar. Some even compare a good cigar to a very beautiful lady. It burns so hot but so evenly. And whenever you get a taste of it, you will definitely get the pleasure that you want. And just like a woman, a good cigar must also pay enough attention so that he can appreciate it fully. That is why there are only a few cigar accessories that real enthusiast should have so that they could get the best of what their cigar could offer.

Cigar Cutter

First and foremost is the cigar cutter. One should know that every good cigar has to be trimmed before it can be lighted. There are not much cigar cutter styles that an aficionado can choose from. The most popular and commonly used is called the guillotine cutter. It utilizes the enclosed blade s that it can properly cut the foot or the head of your cigar before you smoke it.

English Cutter

There are also more cutter styles other than the one mentioned above. You can also choose from the puncher or the English cutter which is sometimes called as the cat’s eye. The latter has a wedge that would cut the cigar’s head. On the other hand, the punch would only have a narrow spindle that would let the accessory to put a small hole on the head of the cigar.

The three said accessories for the cigar all works the same way. It all just depends on your smoking style and personal choice which of these accessories would you get.

Cigar Lighter

If you want to fully enjoy a cigar then the first thing that you should do is to light this up. It is very important that you properly light your cigar. If not, you would be spoiling the rest of it. This is the reason why most aficionados are looking for a nice cigar lighter. But no matter what kind of lighter you use, it still has a propane as its fuel source. Unlike other petroleum products, propane actually does not have any flavor which may be left in your cigar and its taste. So if you really want to enjoy your cigar, start it with a good propane-based lighter.

Good Cigar Case

Of course, it is also essential that you have your own case for the cigarettes as well. And because cigarettes are soft, it can be very fragile if you just put in inside your bags or purses. Thus, you should always have a case that would protect it from breaking. This is what a good cigar case can do. As long as it is protected inside the case, you can immediately enjoy it wherever you go especially if you have a unique and expensive cigar of your choice. You do not have to buy another pack of cigars since it will always be safe and in good shape before you cut and light it. Usually, cases can hold up to five cigars but there are now more selections when it comes to a good cigar case.

The cigar accessories can be as important as the cigar for having a memorable smoke.

Cohiba Cigars, Get the Best Cigar Experience

September 5th, 2011 by admin

Cohiba Cigars

When it comes to real cigar smokers, Cohiba seems to be the best word for them. Those who really want to get the best experience in smoking should get his hand on the most talked about and the legendary Cohiba cigars. Unfortunately, this is already like a collector’s item for some.

Cigar

Cohiba cigars are very rare nowadays. And just like any legend, this too was filled with a lot of rumors and speculations. That is why some were having a hard time determining what’s real or not behind the Cohiba cigars. But nonetheless, this cigar is still considered as the sterling standard particularly to the hardcore smokers around the world.

The story of the Cohiba cigars started in Cuba when Fidel Castro had the power and the influence during the Cuban revolution. The leader had noticed the pleasing aroma from the cigars smoked by one of the bodyguards. Curious, he asked the bodyguard if he could give it a try.

Apparently, it was better smoked than smelled. The bodyguard told him that the great tasting cigar was bought from a maker located in Havana. Fidel Castro then went to the cigar maker and gave him five assistants so that they could manufacture this mysterious cigar outside the Havana. This became the birth of the Cohiba cigars.

At first, Fidel Castro was the exclusive smoker of the Cohiba cigars. But later on, the leader gave it away to some of the diplomats and dignitaries as his gifts. And because there are only a few people helping in the production of the Cohiba cigars, the production was only small.

Those are in United States can’t have a taste of the cigars as well because their trade embargo are not in favor of Cuba as well. Thus, the Cohiba cigars became very unusual in places outside Cuba. This is one of the reasons why such cigar was surrounded with mysteries.

Inevitably, it became the talk of the town. People living in United States started to smuggle the Cohiba cigars just to have it in the country. And during that time, if you happen to know somebody who has a Cohiba cigar or sells one, you would do everything just to get your hands on this rare cigar. The popularity of the Cohiba cigars made it to the Seinfeld show. It became one of the jokes in the said show since Cosmo Kramer too smokes Cohiba cigar as well.

Exclusive and Legendary

Although this is still known for its rarity, it is easier for cigar aficionados to have a pack or two of the legendary Cohiba cigars compared to what they have to go through decades ago. No need to compete with Fidel Castro, the diplomats and there is no need to buy it from smugglers at the same time. Once you get hold of the Cohiba cigars, leave everything first before lighting it up. It is not every day that you can smoke a cigar as tasty as this. Take time to enjoy something exclusive and legendary as the Cohiba cigars.

Today, it’s a little easier to get your hands on a Cohiba, but they are still rare and they are still the cigar world’s biggest prize. So, if you’re lucky enough to find some Cohiba Cigars, sit back, light up and enjoy the cigar born of a revolution.

Cruises: Making the Perfect Choice

Take a cruise

Cruises can be the perfect getaway.  With lots to do on the boat, your meals always provided, and plenty of variety when you get off the boat, cruises can be perfect for all ages.  The problem is that so many companies offer so many destinations so often that it can be difficult to make a decision even after you have decided that you want to go on a cruise.  The best way to make a decision to fit your needs is to first decide where you want to go, when you want to go, and what cruise line you want to go on.  Then start looking for the right cruise.

Where You Want to Go – Gone are the days when going on cruises meant going on a Caribbean Cruise.  These days, cruises go all over the world.  The good news is that you have options; the bad news is that so many options can make it difficult to make a decision.  The best way to make a decision is simply to decide where you would like to go if you weren’t going on a cruise.

As long as your desired destination is somewhere near the ocean, you can probably take a cruise there.  Think about what you like to do.  There are cruises that cater to people who like outdoors adventure (Alaska Cruises), people who like history and architecture (Mediterranean Cruises), and of course people who like the beach (Caribbean cruises).  Once you’ve decided where you want to go, you’ve already cut down your options dramatically.

When You Want to Go – Basically, you can go whenever you want.  Most cruise lines offer trips year around.  Except for some far northern (or southern, in the southern hemisphere) destinations, you can take cruises to every destination twelve months a year.  One way to decide when to go is when you think it would be most relaxing.  For instance, a lot of families find that winter vacation is the perfect time to go on a cruise because everybody needs a nice break from work and school.  However, going on a more off-peak time, like October or November, can reduce the price of your cruise.

What Cruise Line to Take – Once you’ve decided where and when you want to go, you have probably already narrowed down the possibilities for which cruise line to take.  Some lines don’t offer trips to the Mediterranean or Alaska, for instance.  If you still have more than one option left, find out what types of people generally book their cruise on each particular line.  If you’re traveling with a family, you probably don’t want to go on a cruise line that caters primarily to singles.  Once you’ve answered these three questions, you’ll have cut down your options considerably and will be left with only the cruises that will fit you best.
